Memorial to Sgt Lance Dent.

Sgt Lance Dent was an Air Gunner / Wireless Operator in the RAF during World War 2. He volunteered for the RAF in the hope of protecting his family (including two young daughters) from the advancing threat of Nazi Germany. He was posted to the mainly commonwealth Squadron 150 based in RAF Snaith, Yorkshire.

After a number of missions his plane went missing after taking off late on the 8th June 1942 and nothing was known of the fate of X3725. Not knowing what had happened or the location the mission ended the family only had a simple record at The Air Forces Memorial, Runnymede. However, after 73 years a record was found that shows that the aircraft was shot down near Callentsoog in the early morning of the 9th June. This came as great comfort to Lance's surviving daughter Anne, but came too late for others.
